What is The Church Lot?

The Church Lot is a campus ministry built around belonging. It was  at Kennesaw State University and is centered primarily on students. But it also intentionally has porous edges: faculty, staff, alumni, neighbors, partners, churches, and other people looking for community can find a place in it too.

It exists because we believe belonging isn't something people should have to earn. You don't have to believe the right things, behave a certain way, have your life together, or become somebody different before there's a place for you here.

And we've increasingly defined belonging as more than simply “everybody is welcome.” The goal is for people to discover three things:

You Are Loved.

You Are Needed.

You Are Never Alone.

You are loved means you have inherent worth. You don't have to perform for your place here. We would also prefer you treat others in a similar fashion.

You are needed means you aren't merely a recipient of ministry. You have gifts, agency, ideas, responsibilities, and something this community needs. That's where contribution, purpose, leadership, stewardship, heathy risk, and even failure-as-data start entering the picture.

You are never alone means we practice interdependence. Whether we want to admit it or not, people need people. So having a community means receiving help when you need it as well as  becoming someone others can depend and lean on.

And underneath all this is our mission statement:
